I have to say I like both versions, I've never heard the older one but those strings at the beginning are just awesome! Plus the wallpapers/pictures... Nicely combined ^^

Has a very "no guts, no glory" feel to it. I have the most recent build version's theme and love it. This makes me want to fly a real F-16 doing strafe maneuvers, inverting, dodging missiles, and defending the planet Earth shooting down UFO's heroically from the skies.

I feel like combat songs never quite fit air combat, it always has drums and a lot of bass, because yk, gunshots and explosions, but in air combat the first explosion is usually the last as well, so punchy instruments don't quite fit.
Now this, THIS fits it just perfect. It has the energy of a combat song, but instead of being punchy and with a lot of drums, the bass is made by strings, which do capture the movement of aircraft, long turns in a fight, fast flybys, and the continuous mobility of the aircraft.
This is an underrated gem. Let's hope we'll get the same, or even better, from Xenonauts 2.

This sounds like sort of a mix of both American and Soviet music mixed together, like it's the American "oh yeah we got this" feeling from like the Top Gun soundtrack mixed with the grim devotion of say the Soviet National Anthem. It's like it was a song made in-universe to represent all of humanity including both America and the Soviet Union coming together to heroically face horrific overwhelming odd, with the only chance for all of us on this pale blue dot to survive being to band together as one as well as to embrace reverse engineered strange previously unknown cutting edge alien technology.

Also this song has a very "1970s newly born prototype electronic music technologies and music making techniques being used in a new innovative way" vibe.
