I think she plays el contrabandista too much "Staccato" but it is still beautiful

I first heard Valentina Lisitsa play 'La Contrabandista' and I thought, nobody can top this. Well, Ivanova has blown Lisitsa clear out of the water. PLEASE release some albums and just take my money.

I love this and Valentina's interpretation of Le Contrabandista equally, impossible to pick a better performance. Dina's performance is more playful but I think Valentina's version is so grandiose it moves me in a different way. What a beautiful and under appreciated piece of music. The Sonate in h-moll is worth sticking around for as well ;)

Good performances from everyone who was in this round, but I would not change to Lisitsa for anything in the worldplaying this piece, I understand that they are in a competition and may be nervous and not give the best of them, but I am not very convinced of their interpretations, some acacciaturas are not very clear and other small details, but nevertheless a good job, so I still keep the version of Valentina Lisitsa (The one of her CD)

This is so musically played that it brings out aspects of this Sonata I didn't know existed.

Wow. From what I read about Liszt, if he lived at this day, he wouldn't be too happy to see that great artists of today can play his bragging rights piece as well as himself. LOL. Bravo.

Seems the Yamaha CFX was too polite sounding for this piece though.
