Why are insects attracted to lights?

Im confused. If they turn their backs towards light, wouldn't they be flying away from it, and not be attracted to it?

if they use light (the sun) to orient themselves to gravity, they are doing the same thing with the moon, as it is merely reflecting the sun’s light. the same thing can be said about streetlights, they are using them to orient themselves to earth’s gravity because it matches the same plane as the earth & sun, and earth and moon

Im sorry but you said basicaly insects dont use light to fly correctly but they do use lights to fly correctly. When they use their backs to detect light they in fact use the moon as a compass.
