Why I Think Outer Wilds Is So Underrated

So, Id like to preface this with saying...I know. Its hard to blame a gamer for not liking a game. Thats not what Im trying to do. Im just giving you all my opinion on why I think Outer Wilds doesnt have a larger appeal in the gaming community! ......Please dont eat me alive.

This was my description for the video. But I anticipate some....blowback of sorts for saying some things so bluntly. So I want to get a head of it by just posting the description in the comments. Outer Wilds is game that is increasing in players, unlike most modern games. Its launch was sadly a disappointment, but it is raising in popularity the longer it is out! :D

One thing I found that helped me a LOT when trying to figure things out is just how well conjoined everything is. It seemed that nearly every place to explore would often hint at how to explore another area (like if you explore brittle hollow South Pole, you can learn how to get past the Giant's Deep current).

I have a friend who played this game and wasn't enjoying it because of the lack of an objective, but i think that if the game was always telling you what to do it would be boring and to easy.

It's good that some good Brazilian youtubers/streamers made lives about it. It really deserves more attention

The guy in the thumbnail states that the time limit rushes him but 22 minutes feels like plenty of time to do just about anything or multiple things.

I kind of feel the opposite, this game has made me feel more comfortable with these mechanics as a whole, and has pushed me to try other games and content of similar design like majora's mask and mythic+ wow content.

I love this game but I hope they never make a sequel. the story's finished and it's perfect as is. I would love to see the devs take the lessons learned from this and apply them to a new IP though

In my opinion, the best games have an emotional impact on the player. 3 games did this for me: Golden Sun, Undertale, and Outer Wilds

Man this game is by far one of my most favorite games, a really diferent and good experience, it's sad some people just can't enjoy the game because of a tiny time loop or because they don't know what to explore.

12:49 I believe this to be a lighting effect rather then a doppler one. Since the planet doesn't move relative to you, you probably experience no doppler effect at all. Let alone the speeds would have to be near light. And... if they are near light the first part kinda doesn't work anymore, so...

I think that's lighting. At least the red is always on the Sun side, so it can't be movement based. Probably diffraction of light from the Sun.

Outer wilds is severely, criminally, underrated. I think most of the fault can be attributed to the Epic exclusivity restricing the game's visibility on the market.
Luckily, it's slowly getting picked up by influencers, so we can hope it finally gets the glory it deserves in the coming months / years (kinda like Subnautica and Titanfall 2 are being revived now).

Of course, I hope that means more views and subs for you, you are the OG Outer Wilds youtuber and best Nomai pilot out there! :P

I just remembered heading about it in a game review a few months before I had the time to play it. It was on sale on steam so I bought it (seeing it had so many awards was a good sign, and not just "game of the year" awards that seem to be handed out by anyone and everyone nowadays) and if you're on the look out for something intelligently designed, dense with exploration potential and a uniquely emotional impact in its finale, all without just giving it to you in cut scenes or bad exposition... Then this is the game for you. You will struggle, but you will succeed and every step on this journey of a game feels like your own advancement to greater understanding of your situation in the game world, and to some extent, to life here in the real world too.

Without the timeloop the whole pacing would fall apart.
The game has a lot of empty areas. And i think without the time limit it would be a way less exciting and fulfilling experience
