My mind boggles me that Andy Serkis never won an Oscar for his motion capture acting. Especially as Caesar

There is no reason in my opinion that Andy Serkis shouldn’t have been nominated for an Oscar for this movie. He is one of the best actors in the world regardless of using performance capture or not.

It is so rare to see a SINGLE remake of any Classic, done well. To have all three (and a fourth coming soon) not only pay due respect/homage to the original, but even (In many instances), *SURPASS* the previous trilogy? Absolutely *OUTSTANDING* series of movies, thus far!

I love the relationship between Caesar and Malcolm, they spend such a small amount of time together but such a strong bond was built

Kingdom of the Apes has got a lot to live up to, this trilogy set the standard for the franchise and showed how incredible this series can be.

Andy Serkis absolutely deserves an Oscar for his performance as Ceaser. I really love Maurice's voice too. I truly wish he talked more throughout the trilogy.

Matt Reeves really came in, rubbed his hands together and was all like "lets make some motherfucking magic happen" and then dropped two bangers of sequels. Then did it again and dropped a banger of a batman movie. Also, yes, Andy Serkis not getting a nomination for his performance in any of these films is deeply upsetting to me.

The scene with Gary oldman looking at his tablet once power is back breaks me every time. Since becoming a parent it hits different
I imagine he had no way of seeing photos of his kids so that moment with the tablet had to of been the first time in years!

Don’t get me wrong. Gary has a had a long and illustrious career.

But this role.. this scene.. I think is the pinnacle of it all.

Without any words at all he shows just what kind of man Dreyfus is like.

Of course he’s happy that the humans just got power. Of course he feels like he accomplished his mission.

But he takes one look at his past… one look at his family and he breaks down into a shell of a man.

Because even if he’s the leader of the humans during the apocalypse even if he has saved them for now.

He will never be satisfied because he failed those that needed him most.

His crying is so damn raw and real and this scene man… I’m crying right along side him.

Honestly, this movie is superb. I was shocked that the 3rd one was even better!
Honestly, the 3rd movie is so good it’s the only franchise film to make my top ten best films of all time.
This series is so severely underrated and under looked. It often swaps between this trilogy and lord of the rings for my favourite trilogy.

This trilogy is honestly I think the best modern one due to the fullness of Caesar’s story. I know the contenders. I think this wins.

Giving Andy Serkis an Oscar at this point isn't enough. The Academy should start a category for Mocap performances and name it after Andy Serkis. THAT would be the appropriate thing at this point.

Part of the reason Koba turned against Caesar in the end was because of Caesar attacking him in the dam. Until that point, Koba had still remained loyal to Caesar despite his aggression and violent temper, but when Caesar attacked him at the dam, Koba felt absolutely humiliated and betrayed in front of everyone, both human and ape, and thus firmly believed that Caesar would rather defend humans instead apes

It's actually implied that Koba's last "Ape not kill Ape" was actually a taunt to Caesar, knowing what he was about to do to him

Truly, without a doubt one of the best movies of the century. This movies rocks in every way. I also just love how with each new movie that came out for this trilogy not only did The Voice come out more for Caesar but so did the performance of Andy Serkis. APES TOGETHER STRONG!

Im so glad you both got back to the Planet of the Apes trilogy! Its one of my favorite trilogies of all time. Dawn is the most shakespearean of them all. The storytelling is top notch!! Can't wait for you to watch War for the Planet of the Apes

Can't wait to see your reaction to War! This is one of my favourite movie series of all time, with each movie being better than the last, and Ceasar as a character holds a very special place in my heart.

This movie one of those few sequels that surpass the original for me🙌🏼

The best most powerful and heartfelt part of this movie for me is when Malcolm (Jason Clarke) and the others are helping Caesar recover while hiding out in Caesar's old home. And they're looking at old footage of Caesar with Will (James Franco) on this old camcorder.

Malcolm (asks Caesar about Will): "Who is that?"

Caesar points to Will in the old footage and says to Malcolm, "A good man, like you."

I LOVE the trust and bond that grows between Malcolm and Caesar. The fact that Ceaser can wisely discern between good and bad people (since he's experienced both sides) makes him an amazing character and leader in this franchise. It creates compelling and real conflict because you understand the apes' hate towards humans, especially Koba.

Caesar can easily rally the apes to wage war against the humans, but like any good leader, he seeks the best for his people and knows that war would destroy everything they've built. He doesn't let ego, pride, selfishness, or pressure from those around him cloud his judgment. And since he's seen the good in humans, he's willing to help some of them and be kind and compassionate in their time of need.

My only gripe (and it’s not even so much about the movie itself) is that when you see the trilogy as a whole. I think the first one should’ve been called Dawn of the Plant of the Apes, this should’ve been called War For The Planet of the Apes and the 3rd one called Rise of The Planet of the Apes. Only because the 3rd movie is called War, but there isn’t too much war throughout the movie.
