Work has begun to reopen a train station in Ashley Down, that shut in the 1960s. It’s hoped construction will end in 2024. It’s part of the far wider MetroWest project to improve public transport across the West Country.

What a shame that the tram scheme, what, twenty five years ago?, never got off the ground. Bristol has some of the wost road traffic congestion of any British city.

This seems pointless as if I come from Newport South Wales and want to get off at Ashley Down I have to travel through Ashley Down onto Bristol Temple Meads where I'd have to wait for 30 minutes for a traint to take me back up the same line to stop at Ashley Down. No point making new stations if the train won't stop at them!!!
