Quickly Import Excel Graphs in Illustrator

Показать описание
Learn how to quickly get an excel graph to work in Illustrator in 6 quick steps by removing all clipping masks, ungrouping and removing compound paths. I'm pretty sure this is the fastest and most efficient way of doing it.

This tutorial will also show you how to edit all points at the same time, and how to clean up your chart. When you import an excel chart the points consist of fills and strokes, and we have to separate them. I'll show you how to easily modify a scatter chart.

Note, that this method works for all charts with the exception of histograms.

This is great! But what about a trendline? It doesn't get imported and especially if it's non-linear trendline...

When I have to release the option is in grey so I can’t click on it. It was after doing ctrl + alt + 7 two times.

For some reason, this does not always work. I am working on a project which brings charts from Excel to Illustrator for ID. Some charts will import without complications, while others only import as a photo. There is no compound path or clipping mask involved. I have also tried to place the charts into PowerPoint, export to svg or eps, and that will not work. When I finally have it imported, the text is all outlines and needs to all be retyped. It's become a full day's work just for the chart conversion to Illustrator, which annoys.

So I deal with a lot of excel graphs made in China and when I try and copy, paste into Ai, it does not bring everything over. Sometimes the lines in the middle of the graph are missing, sometimes, it's words, it varies. Excel also makes it really hard to select multiple things at once when it comes to a graph. Also I ALWAYS have to change the font in Excel before I move a table because if I don't then all the text just shows up as random characters in Ai. Any help with this issue would be awesome. Thanks for the vid.

Good one, but can you remove the barriers (censors) in a KM graph or curve without affecting the curve ?

Remove the borders in Excel before copy/pasting into Excel ;)

It’s not so simple. Sometimes illustrator can’t paste text. Sometimes problem with gradients. Etc.
