Communication is important in any work environment -- which is why data silos can be a problem for business. Data silos often happen within large companies as different departments focus on the information that is most relevant to themselves. The problems that arise from these data silos include incomplete, inconsistent, and/or duplicate data. Data silos also promote, lesshinder collaboration and pose data security issues.
