In different folklore tales, it's described that Aqrabuamelu was the creation of the deity Enki, who symbolized wisdom and water. Aqrabuamelu was endowed with an exceptional capability - the power to secure the underworld's gates. In certain storytelling narratives, Aqrabuamelu is also referred to as the custodian of the sun god - Shamash, or a safeguard of the ruler.

According to the Babylonian creation epic, the first being to be created by Tiamat was Aqrabuamelu. This creation was primarily aimed for waging a war against the novel gods for the deceit of her companion Apzu. Apzu symbolizes the sea that is primeval, located beneath the underworld's void space (Kur) and above the earth (Ma).

Within the ancient text of the Epic of Gilgamesh, beings shaped like scorpions were tasked with protecting the entrance to the domain of the Sun deity, Shamash, located within the Mashu range. This portal was the threshold to Kurnugi, the realm shrouded in shadows. These sentinel beings had the duty of opening this gateway for Shamash at dawn's break and sealing it once he descended back into the netherworld come nightfall.

I know there will be a lot of haters, but when you study the Epic and remaining stories of those first religions, it's apparent where all the other Middle Eastern (ie Abrahamic) religions got their stories.
