Awesome Low Typhoon Jet Landing at Waddington Airshow

Brilliant airshow moment. An RAF Typhoon comes in low on the approach to land whizzing just feet above airshow adrenaline fans heads at Waddington Airshow 2013 arrivals.

The rate of descent was so quick, you could almost high five the undercarriage 😜

One theory is, there could have been a bubble of hot air rising from the A15 road and drifting toward the jet, causing it to descend so quickly like that. A perfectly normal approach but great fun for the folks stood there as they got a bit closer than usual ;) This is what we go for!!

In the late 60s and early 70s as a kid I often went on holiday near RAF Llanbedr N Wales and I spent hours watching the various aircraft screaming just above the dunes including Lightnings Hunters and Meteors on occasion you could also hear sonic booms from out in the Irish Sea ah happy days with my binoculars watching all the aircraft.
It's the one thing I really miss since the Cold War ended all the military jets flying across the UK.
In the 80s on the Welsh borders U.S. A10s used the caravans in the woods where we stopped as 'targets' diving in climbing away.
😀👍 ah happy Days

No problem. Thanks for the reply. It has been a while since I visited Coningsby. Thanks for the info on the red and white fence.

I totally agree with you. You can see the pilot altering his angle of attack to put the plane just where he wanted. It's not an airliner or other big plane where you don't have as much control, but a fighter in normal weather. He can dial in what he wants the plane to do.

The road which you can see here actually closes when a plane comes in to land. They have railway style lights which activate when any plane lands, which means there are no vehicles on that part of the road when the plane lands. Any pedestrians on that section are there at their own risk.

Generally I'd say he was too close for comfort but since he didn't crash or take anyone's head off I have to say, well played!!!

Great moment superbly filmed, and you even had time to fit in a Didier Drogba impersonation at the end!

Cut the tops of the hedge down! My father in law designed the landscapes around Waddington to prevent viewing.
For the record, cars have flipped through jet wash, hence the exclusion zone. Brilliant video and glad no one was hurt, no matter how stupid they are.

I have seen this video a day after it was uploaded but I just have noticed that your video came on BBC, big congratz for that !! :)

But again, awesome shot and I think that those people at the fence had the best day of their lives :)

Yea, people wonder why a few feet can change the whole dynamic to flying. This is a perfect example why. Also, that pilot was lucky as hell he didn't clip that fence(red one).
