Of all the early Beach Boys songs, Little Deuce Coupe was probably the one most responsible for elevating the bands status and increasing popularity from that of a distinguished surf group to a band that now featured songs about cars ...

Lyrics: "Little Deuce Coupe"
Songwriter(s) Brian Wilson & Roger Christian

Little Deuce Coupe, you don’t know what I got
(You don’t know what I got)
Little Deuce Coupe, you don’t know what I’ve got

Well, I’m not braggin’ babe so don’t put me down
(Deuce Coupe)
But I’ve got the fastest set of wheels in town
(Deuce Coupe)
When something comes up to me he don’t even try
(Deuce Coupe)
‘Cause if it had a set of wings man I know she could fly

She’s my little Deuce Coupe
You don’t know what I got
Little Deuce Coupe
You don’t know what I got

Just a little Deuce Coupe with a flathead mill
(Deuce Coupe)
But she’ll walk a Thunderbird like she’s standin’ still
(Deuce Coupe)
She’s ported and relieved and she’s stroked and bored
(Deuce Coupe)
She’ll do a hundred and forty in the top end floored

She’s my little Deuce Coupe
You don’t know what I got
(She’s my little Deuce Coupe)
(You don’t know what I got)

She’s got a competition clutch with four on floor
And she purrs like a kitten till the lake pipes roar
And if that ain’t enough to make you flip your lid
There’s one more thing, I got the pink slip daddy

And comin’ off the line when the light turns green
(Deuce Coupe)
Well, she blows ‘em outta the water like you never seen
(Deuce Coupe)
I get pushed out of shape and it’s hard to steer
(Deuce Coupe)
When I get rubber in all four gears

She’s my little Deuce Coupe
You don’t know what I got
(She’s my little Deuce Coupe)
(You don’t know what I got)

She’s my little Deuce Coupe
You don’t know what I got
(She’s my little Deuce Coupe)
(You don’t know what I got)

She’s my little Deuce Coupe
You don’t know what I got what I got
(She’s my little Deuce Coupe)
(You don’t know what I got)

Wouldn't trade growing up in the 60's for anything.

Grew up in the 60s, never had the money for a car like that, than it was marriage, buying a home, kids and college, now I'm 72 years old and got my little duce coupe better late than never

I had a 1957 T-bird, painted black with gold metal flakes. I dropped a 352 T-bird engine in with a big four-barrel carb. I swear the gas gauge moved whenever I put my foot in it. Great ride; but sold when I went in the Navy. E-1's back in 1965 couldn't afford cars. Love listening to the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, the Ventures, etc.

This was my favorite song when I was a little girl. I always said "my little loose coupe, you don't know what I got." Lol My dad was a car guy and passed way 2 years ago. Miss him very much. I would sing this to him when I was little.

Those were the days of dragging Main, Malt Shops, Hamburgers made with real meat 1/2" thick, Classic Root Beer Floats at the local A&W, I could go on and on. Love this song and the clips from "American Graffiti." God Bless You.

There was a music genre in the late 50s thru about 1965 called the car song, and Little Deuce Coupe was a perfect example. Car songs told stories about street races and the race cars and muscle cars of that era. Most young men, like me, were gear heads back then and car guys who loved to race and work on our cars. Check out The Beach Boys songs Shut Down and Don’t Worry Baby for more examples of the genre called the car song. It was just awesome to be young in those days! Glad I’m not 14 today.

I don't why, but I LOVE this song.  Maybe it's the drumbeat and the rhythm of the song.

In my town they outlawed "slicks" on the street, but the tire company's come out with a tire called "cheaters" that had one line (I think it was) down the side of the tire. What a time to grow up in. Then came the VN war. Sad! But we had a wonderful childhood and time to grow up in. Sitting on porches girls, looking at the boys drive by.. what a time it was.
