You have spoken well on all your points, esp re: IKE & legal vs illegal immigration / flooding our country.  One point that is a necessity for our country to "put paid to" is immigration - legal, illegal, border crossings, & all flavors of same.  We have lived with DHS (esp under Napalitano) fully behaving in a manner inimical to DHS's stated purpose.

DHS stated purpose being;
1 Protecting the US from terrorist threats (supposedly the founding principle of DHS)
2 facilitate legal immigration while bringing to justice the violators 
3 securing our borders (land, sea, air)
4 ensure readiness/disasters
5 unify and mature DHS

The last person to attempt to provide a framework for "fixing our broken system" was Barbara Jordan, an amazing woman, speaker & congresswoman. You may remember her for the (very cogent) opening speech (to Congress et al) on Nixon's impeachment hearing in 1974.  We do NOT have her like any more.
With her powerful command of language, gained from 2 generations (I believe) of pastors, all powerful speakers.  And her mind was far & away above most in Congress at that time.

In the early 90's Bill Clinton was smart enough to know that we needed a framework for reworking a broken "system" of immigration.  Barbara Jordan wrote a framework for revamping the system...unfortunately nothing has come from that. Her framework is available for anyone that wishes to see it on the Freedom Works site (www.freedomworks.org)

Congress has gone on, biz as usual for years, without paying attn to the wild variety of rules (& misrules) for bringing in foreign workers (now impacting heavily our workforce - due to pressures from the business sector).  This item, along with so much lawlessness at the highest levels, is again an issue that needs "putting paid to".  Hopefully...this (fixing the brokenness of the system) will be put paid to w/our Cruz missile in the hotseat.
