In this video:

You’ll often hear that the name “hot dog” comes from a cartoon drawn by T.A. Dorgan during a New York Giants baseball game at the Polo Grounds around 1902-1906 (date varies depending on who’s telling the story). At this game, he supposedly observed a vendor, Harry Stevens, selling “hot dachshund sausages”. Dorgan, being inspired by this, drew a dachshund in a hot dog bun, but didn’t know how to spell dachshund, so just wrote “hot dog”.

Needed a bonus fact on why hotdogs are sold in packs of 10 and hotdog buns are sold in packs of 8.

Really? You crack up laughing on every other line, but you manage "No one wants a dry wiener, after all." with a straight face?

Either Simon was completely hammered, or self isolation is getting him bad!
But I loved this episode, lots of laughs

"How many channels do you have?" Simon: "Yes"

It’s boggled me my entire life how people get squicked by the process of making the most of available food, and by side association, the various preservation and storage techniques that were essential to our survival in a pre-refrigerated world.

Is it just me, or is he having a mental breakdown (granted we all are, but still)? I've never seen him break character this much before! :D

Originally using every part of an animal was a sign of respect - we needed animals to survive, and when we had to kill them we used every single bit of them we could. It may seem odd to everyone now, but in older days people cared for animalssince when they were born, in their farms or properties, and usually families with land had their own animals to grow, feed and then eat. There was some kind of awareness of the bond they had, it was their pig/cow/rabbit/chicken and they were grateful for having had them and having something to eat thanks to them.

When I worked at a butcher shop that made sausage. I would describe my job as stuffing animals in their own intestines.

Business blaze is leaking into Simon's other projects lol I love the more laid back attitude. You know, this kind of hosting can trace its origins back to a meat market in china...

Sitting here simultaneously thinking about how disgusting this sounds and how I could go for a hotdog right now.

Bonus fact: Most Americans know EXACTLY what's in a hot dog; we just don't care. Matter of fact, I'm hungry for one right now!

Simon, leaving the little quips in was a great idea. Don’t know if this was the first video you’ve done it in, but it is a good laugh!

I think my favorite part is when Simon realized what a “roach coach” was.

My grandpa was a butcher. I remember as a little girl my dad saying, "you don't want to eat that, babe." I said it tasted good. He said, "don't make me tell you what's in there." I haven't ate one since. I trusted dad. Sounds like it was a good call.

This one is a great example of why I subscribed. The video was filled with various jokes while still being informative. Simon doesn't pretend he knows everything and looks up information during filming, yet still comes across as an intelligent individual. Entertaining and educational. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.
