Eddie Vedder performing his classic single - Rise.

Remastered in HQ/4K audio.

LYRICS:

Such is the way of the world
You can never know
Just where to put all your faith
And how will it grow?
Gonna rise up
Burning black holes in dark memories
Gonna rise up
Turning mistakes into gold...

Such is the passage of time
Too fast to fold
Suddenly swallowed by signs
Lo and behold
Gonna rise up
Find my direction magnetically
Gonna rise up
Throw down my ace in the hole

My 17 year old son is going through a very difficult health issue. As we grow closer together through it spiritually and personally he sends me this song to lift me up. He tells me he loves this song and it strikes very close to home as we grasp at faith and petitioning prayer. He is wise beyond his years and I am blessed by the song and the courage of my son.

This song speaks so much about the number one most underrated virtue.... gratitude. Quiet, unassuming, selfless, and most importantly authentic gratitude. It’s freeing, humbling, and it reenergizes your soul.

This song reminds me I will rise up out of homelessness and become stable, get another guitar and make はは、my girlfriend, and my father proud of me.

This song is one of the reasons why I bought a mandolin.
You can kind of play this on a uke, but you'll miss many of the accents that Eddie Vedder has going on in this song

I work as music therapist. Clients mum gave me mandolin for christmas. Don't know how to play it, never held one. Other client no connection to mandolin, who has acquired brain injury from stroke gave me music to this song because she loves it and wants to sing to help her talk again. Fell in love with this song. So happy and sad. I'm a mandolin guy now. Happy-tears in my eyes as I'm slowly learning this :)

I still have that ambition to rise up and find my direction after 40 years of living. It doesn't go away for me. Despite how much I've been conditioned to be behave a certain way.

Singing this while crying after losing someone is great therapy... just maybe not great for the neighbors. 😉

Chris McCandless man of the world, supertramp, lived free, however short his life may have been, he himself said in his journals he felt so in touch with the world and the freedom of life. Eddie Vedder makes music that touches the soul makes one long for that type of freedom. people wish they were free, free form perpetual debt, govt control, tyranny and war. in these trying times when it looks as the entire northern hemisphere is in chaos i long for freedom.

It sounds your son was able to find his inner peace through his troubles. A true warrior. Sending my blessings, all the best for the future.

I absolutely love this song, although I never really understood the "too fast to fold" line. "Too fast to hold" would have made sense, but why "too fast to fold"? If I ever run into Eddie, I'll have to ask him. In any case, the message comes through loud and clear, and the instrumental at the end is so beautiful it sometimes brings tears to my eyes.
