In 2021, China banned fishing in the same waters, to replenish the fish stocks that they depleted, restricting Filipino fishermen from fishing in their own fishing ground.

Those blue ships are 60m Chinese fishing boat that can haul in a ton of fish a day.
(April 2020), For three months, these Chinese fishing boats poached 240, 000 kg of fish daily in PH seas.
They are illegally taken daily by a fleet of more than 200 Chinese fishing vessels that had massed in the West Philippine Sea, China have been overfishing and pooping on the sea. (dumping raw sewage and garbage into the ocean destroying coral reefs where the fishes breed, depleting marine resources.).
China has denied Filipino fishermen the ability to fish “in our own waters.
Philippines have to import galunggong from China, with much of the fish likely taken from its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
