I don’t do the best job each time but I never hurt my dog. I can’t afford grooming but I make my beautiful boy very comfortable. ❤️🙏 thanks for the reminders here and about. ❤😅

I am always so happy to see dogs that are comfortable with being groomed and feeling safe with their groomer.
Stance relaxed, dry muzzle and not shying away. 👏

I agree with the prep work comment. Especially with doodles. The prep work is extremely important, and makes or breaks the finished product. Dog still has tons of curls, the face and ears are still wet, probably a lot of the body as well; which makes your job a lot harder, and is what leaves a lot of those curls in there. You have to dry as soon as you get them out of the tub, and all the way through. No cage drying any poodle mixes. Only MAYBE straight haired breeds, but honestly, I never cage dry any of my dogs. It just makes them look...not fluffy, not straight, and unfinished. The ears should have been thinned out a ton, brushed a lot more, same with the face. The 'bangs' brushed forward again and thinned, and the whole head thinned and then straight sheared again. Hair over the eyes, muzzle, and ears especially, though. It just takes practice. You're pretty decent, but just watch some other doodle videos. Some of these girls are excellent. Keep striving to better your craft! I'm not perfect by any means, we can all always do better and learn more. That's what's amazing about this job. We're always learning, and we get to do it with amazing dogs. ❤️ also, always always safety first. For the dog AND for YOU! Don't do a bunch of big dogs every day. Use swivel thumb shears. Straight, curved, thinners, and chunkers. Use belly bands and overhead, full-length arms. I made the mistake of doing big dogs, and letting shop owners take advantage of me, giving me all the big dogs while they kicked back and did the little ones for my entire 20 years of grooming...when finally I got injured doing 3 huge, obese goldens who got #1's all over, and had a ton of impacted undercoat. My nerves got compressed, tendons torn in my dominant arm...had a delayed diagnosis from crappy Drs, and now will probably never be able to groom again. Probably never be able to lift anything over 20lbs again...greedy shop owners have ruined my entire life. No workman's comp, no short term disability, no help at all. Absolutely crazy. And I had started my own business to get away from my crazy employer, too. 😩 So, remember, the first priority is YOU, because no one is going to look after you, but you. ❤️ stay amazing. You did an awesome job. Just work on the details now.

Groomer here. I don’t love the use of chunkers so much on the face. Thinners would give a smoother, more blended look. Also it looks like he wasn’t blown out or brushed properly before beginning the cut. This makes a huge difference in the finished product. I also wouldn’t shave so much from in front of the eyes, a very light trim on the inner corners of the eyes gives a much cuter look. All love, all my own opinions based on my own work and things I’ve learned.
