Pat Osbourn, MA, CCC/SLP is Associate Director of the Center for Development & Disability. She also directs the Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities programs and is Program Director for NM START. In these roles she is responsible for building and leading programs that are responsive to the needs of our disability community in New Mexico.

Tiffany L. Otero, PhD, BCBA is a licensed psychologist and the Clinical Director of the NM START program at the UNM Center for Development and Disability. She specializes in diagnostic assessment and behavioral health intervention for individuals with known or suspected developmental differences. She began her career as a behavior analyst and special educator, before pursuing her degree in School Psychology with an emphasis in pediatric neuropsychology.

Cynthia King, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist and child and adolescent psychiatrist. She is a professor and has been with UNM psychiatry for 27 years. Her clinical interest has focused on working with individuals with ASD and ID. She is the medical director of the NM START program.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe the prevalence and unique presentation of individual with ASD/ID and MH.
2. Describe the complex challenges faced by individuals, families, and systems for individuals with ASD/IDD and untreated mental health needs (e.g., medication adherence, access to mental health care, etc.)
3. Describe how the NM START program uses an integrated systems approach to address complex behavioral health needs in individuals with autism and/or intellectual disability.
