Proper Exhaust Band Clamp Installation

In this video we show you how to properly install an exhaust band clamp in an automobile. We start by loosening the nut on the clamp so we can slide it into position where the exhaust pipe connects with the muffler. For the best connection, the clamp should overlay the joint by 1/8". Once the clamp is in position, we tighten the nut with a socket wrench.

Hello there, I'm assuming these things leaking is because most people dont place them like the video shows? i have a brand new high dollar exhaust in my car i installed recently and the cats is the only place that has these slip joints and they have been leaking, the slip joints are only in one spot, the other side of the cats is welded, i did installed them like you did at the beginning when i got the exhaust but i didn't move them out as far as you have them so i did that tonight, fingers crossed and ill check it in the morning, i really dont want to weld this, i have heard of using RTV high heat or permatex, what is your opinion on that? thank you and i appreciate your time and input.
