All the parts for these washers are still available so definitely worth fixing.

I rented a house for over ten years. This exact set was there when I moved in, the owner told me the were from the 80's. And they're still there after moving out two years ago. I never had one single problem with them.

My parents had a Whirlpool washer and dryer they bought in 76. Dad bought a new washer after it wouldn't drain anymore. At 24- 25 years old, He figured he got his money out of it. He was mad at me when I told him a buddy said, all we had to do was manually drain it and it would have worked fine. Found this out 3 hours after the scrap guy picked it up. Dryer is still going strong.

That was my very first washing machine. And it lasted forever never had to have a repair. When it finally gave up I went through washing machine after washing machine at present I don't have one

Local Appliance dealer recommended repairing my Kenmore washer. They do not make them like that anymore.

If you got a machine like this and it's in great condition you keep that going speed Queen can wait. You can keep this machine going for a fraction of the money always without a warranty. Watch a couple YouTube videos and maybe a tool or two and you can repair this machine anything that needs to be done.

I bought this exact same washer back in 1995. 25 years later all it needed was a new clutch - It wouldn't spin the drum enough to sufficiently draw the water out of the clothes. I went online and priced out the clutch, drive coupling, ALL hoses and even a new water pump. I COULD have rebuilt the machine for less than $300 Instead I bought a brand new Maytag washer and dryer. What a mistake, Washer's made after 2010 HAD to be made to NEWER Government "water saving" standards. They DON'T use enough water to wash the clothes AND they DON'T use enough water to RINSE the clothes. I've never had so many rashes in my life. I am now looking for another one of these old Sears Kenmore washers to rebuild. In another 25 years nobody will be able to buy a washing machine that's worth shit unless some company actually starts making something like these old machines again.

Had to switch to one of these after my newer Kenmore (2010) became too crappy to try to repair anymore…

yes I had one was no problems with it I took the tank apart to clean it because it had fabric softener a gummed up in it and it kept working working I think they're better built then the new one

The are 90 series are AMAZING.
They should re-engineer these to be simple to make and work on and buy the rights or wait for the patents to all expire. Imagine an open source washing machine! It then becomes about quality and being able to do an easy repair.

We still rock a 70 set. I've rebuild the dryer clutch myself and thats all I've had to do to them so far

I work for Sears. All of the parts in the washer are still available and for a good piece. I would rebuild that all day long.
