The most underrated comic book film ever. Zack Snyder didn't deserve all the hate he gets. WB decides what gets made. I don't care how good a director is they can't make a movie like BvS and Justice League with no background.

This movie is criminally underrated. This is my favorite comic book-based movie and one of my favorite movies ever. To me, this is the best movie from story to scenery to music maybe only surpassed by the actors in the dark knight and the joker.

Snyder truly gave us a comic book movie ripped straight from the pages here, with very few small alterations! I know it has its haters, but I love this just as much as the graphic novel it’s based on! Awesome job dude, was nice to get your thoughts on this one!

This movie came out on the heel of The Dark Knight and Ironman and it did not avoid immersing itself with much darker adult themes. The characters drive the movie and I think are more interesting than the likes of batman and are equal to the joker. I like how it doesn't treat it's audience as dumb. It fully respected it's source material and you can easily tell was made with passion. This is why Disney Star Wars fails.

I think Watchmen is a fantastic film. I love the visuals and characters. Although I find the movie is only interesting if you watch The 3.5 hour Ultimate Cut and the 37 minute special feature under the hood which acts as a good prologue for the film. So thereby making the film a little over 4 hours

Such an underrated film. Snyder may be making crap now, but man, did he make some pretty good movies in the beginning of his career.

The thing is, Zack Snyder uses comic pages as virtual storyboards for his comic adaptations, so you can't really say that he's got a great visual imagination, is a great visual storyteller etc, as all the shots that stand out were created by Dave Gibbons, which then Zack imported wholesale into his movie. Had this been a text story, then I would have given him more kudos, but like the 300 adaptation, you've already seen the film via the comic, but just with less slow motion.

From a comics adaptation viewpoint, there were quite a few issues with the movie, particularly around Ozymandias's portrayal, which was stupidly dark to the point that it defeated the surprise of who was all behind everything. And for no reason other than Zack likes his dark "edgy" superheroes - he''s got a very immature take on what "adult" storylines are, ramping up and glorifying the violence and brooding at the expense of the greater themes of the story itself - in all his films, Synder is always style over substance. It works in things like Dawn of the Dead, which is a shallow film concept, but this needed someone who can actually direct and focus on characters rather than always looking for the cool shot.

The film would have been a lot better in the hands of someone a bit more grown-up in their sensibilities. It says a lot that the most original and impressive bit of the whole film - the opening sequence, which impressively melds decades of timeline development wasn't done by Synder but by an outside agency. The film need more of this imagination to the main body.

Its a shame, as there's some great moments - the casting was pretty spot on apart from Ozymandias (you needed someone charming, handsome and self-effacing, like a young Robert Redford or Jude Law), and a lot of it didn't take away from the main great themes of the comic, but still a bit of a missed opportunity to me and felt a lot shallower and dumber than it should have done.
