The first time I heard this song, I was sitting with a neighbor who had just returned from Vietnam. He was a Navy vet who had seen real action, making deep incursions during his service. I was just a kid at the time—too young to serve, but old enough to listen. He later went on to run a successful record store, but I’ll never forget that moment, hearing the music through his stories. It stuck with me.

Back in the 70's when I was a ful time drummer, the first solo I learned to play was Inna Gadda Da Vida. Man I loved this song.

It's sad that Doug Engle is the only original member left. I remember getting the album and played this song for hours. Being a drummer I listened Ron Bushy's solo over and over. That was a good time back in the day.

Cuenta la leyenda, no sé si es verdad, que al momento de grabar esta canción en estudio, el cantante estaba tan drogado que no pudo decir el título original que era "in the garden of eden". Para no atrasar la grabación, la dejaron como "in a gadda da vida", sonaba bien.
