The husband mentions he wants to even leave his company to Muzan one day and hopes to create a cure for his condition. This implies the man owns a pharmaceutical company and that’s why Muzan is playing the long game acting as their adopted son; more resources at his disposal with a man willing to use those resources for him on his own time and if he can’t find anything useful, Muzan could always stage the man’s death and inherit the company more quickly.

With Muzan already maintaining the image of a high class citizen with a wife and kid, I feel like he could’ve just bought the company from the man or entered a partnership with him to gain access instead, but he chose to parade as a child possibly bc 1) he enjoys manipulating people as his own idea of fun and 2) he seems to enjoy hiding in plain sight with a family, whether as the husband or son, almost like he’s mocking the idea or taking advantage of the Demon Slayer Corps’ dedication to not hurt people by hiding with innocent people so close by
