Getting the Most Out Of These Sucky Times

Getting the Most Out Of These Sucky Times - That's the topic of today.

These are seriously weird, and for the most part bad, times. That doesn't mean that we should descend into gloom. Quite the contrary. This is an opportunity to do things that we normally might not have time to do.

The gear I most often use.
A Stratocaster of some kind, either an Yngwie Malmsteen Strat, or a custom Strat with a scalloped fretboard. For 7 string stuff I mostly use an Ibanez Universe.
A Marshall 1987x into a Marshall cab.
A Fender Yngwie Malmsteen overdrive, plus a Boss NS-2 noise gate, or a Strymon Sunset.
A Morley Bad Horsie 2 wah, and a delay.
An AKG C-414 mic for the guitar.
For acoustic stuff I use a Taylor 710 short scale thingy.

In my youth I would have enjoyed being locked away with my guitars with nothing but practice to occupy myself with. Now in my older age I am enjoying being locked away with my guitars and practicing with nothing much else to occupy myself with. Not sure this tells us anything meaningful but it's only rock and roll and I like it :). Stay safe and keep well.

You kind of helped. I am still working long hours every day out of town. I am working near the recently closed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This work thing will come to an end in 3-4 weeks and you have helped show how to use the free time when it finally arrives. By that time, the Roland Cube should finally be repaired. Yeh - I don't like Mondays.

Everybody is afraid of each other. I went for a walk yesterday and people were crossing the road back and forth. A teenage girl on a scooter stopped in her tracks when she saw me approaching. This is going to do lasting psychological damage to a lot of people (paranoia, cabin fever). The news broadcasters have done a good job of scaring people.

This discussion might be your best one yet. I totally agree as I reflected on the same thing during an 8 month long father's leave back in 2011. I was a simple wareworker in the tobacco-industry back then, but during those eight months (august-march) I managed to get myself to study (theology before I prompted to achieve that lifelong dream of becoming a teacher) and also buy a house and leave the big city-life (I was born and raised in Stockholm before relocating to Gothenburg as a 20-year old. On a dare :D.) in favor of life in the rural lands in the outskirts of Borås. I have revisited these questions in terms of socializing with people getting short time-permits from their workplaces. So yes, I totally agree on the opportunities in the current situation. In my case I've used the last several weeks to distance myself from social media. I don't even own a smartphone anymore. I use an old NOKIA, a plastic version of the old 8210. Just going more analogue and since were approaching spring me and the dog spend our days in my yard and besides the lone sounds from my latest guitar aquisition, it's just me-him- and the birds. I have taken up Maestro Malmsteen on his challenge, but since I used the 'gram to post videos on my daily succession/progression between 16-19 I'm kinda done with that aspect. But the challenge is accepted and my neighbours are instead paying the price ;).

So did you peak with this discussion? Of course not, Elmo The Guru Karjalainen, I'm sure you'll top this. If not; let's hope for Covid 20 ;) #nevertoosoon

Hi Elmo. I now have a Roland Micro cube. I opted for the old version mainly because I liked the old logo. The R-fier sounds better than expected, but I find it disgusting surprisingly. The classic is however, exactly as you said. It's quite something special.

And while contemplating, maybe listen to Fauré's Requiem and think of those who have lost their lives and how you can keep yourself and others safe.

The lack of outside moment is probably helping air quality. Play an instrument, smoke some green stuff, and help those whom you can. Great video, guy. 🎸😀

Good video my Finnish Slav friend. 😂 Great actually.
There's a lot of BS out there trying to pass for philosophy.
I'm an atheists, but as the buddists say. Life is suffering, and I think it's true, but the old Christian philosphy that making the best out of a bad situation like someone passing, etc, . ( I love me some Christians because it's not the atheist that I see helping the old and sick)
I think good from bad Christian thinking applies to this crises.
I am 58, and have bad health. Heart problems, artheritis, etc, and it is frustrating, but I'm getting much more time to practice guitar, philosophy, chess, etc.. That said I am one good looking long haired SOB. 😂😂
So there's always something, or most of the time something good to come from something bad.
Balance is important.
The toilet thing cracks me up. 😂
Great video sir. Hope you and your's are well too.. and I hope all the subscribers on here are well, unless they are dicks. Then I don't really care about them. 😂
