Alan continues the work on the Farmall 806. His focus today is getting the cab heater to work. He replaces some hoses, but then starts to figure out that a check valve in the heater may be the more significant issue.

We had two 88 Oliver diesel wide front tractors with the white grill on our farm when I was in high school. One had a Farmall F-10 loader with a grapple fork on it and the other one was used strictly for raking with a 9 wheel rake and mowing with a 9ft sickle mower during haying season. Great tractors. I did burn out the clutch and my brother replaced the clutch by himself when he was only 14 years old, because I don't believe you have to split those tractors to replace the clutch. We had a narrow front Farmall H with a 6ft belly mower for mowing the lawn, so that got me thinking that if you use that 77 Oliver for that, that it will be stepping on the Ford 8N's toes. I probably wouldn't be paying a mechanic to replace the clutch on the 8N, since the tractor is not a necessity, so it could probably wait until you have time to do it yourself. The main thing nowadays is parts really add up in cost for a guy even when you are doing all the work yourself. I was thinking it might be a good idea to keep the 2nd 830 as a parts tractor, since people have been saying that it is getting harder and harder to find parts to keep their Case 930 tractors on the road. The Farmall 560 won't be missed. Our family bought one brand new and hated it. Everyone I talked to said they are just a heart ache waiting to happen. Better to save up and buy an 806 since they were actually engineered to be reliable and last for their owners.

When I was a little boy, one of my parents friends had an Oliver. I was fascinated by it. To this day, I still love Olivers and have no idea why. Another thing which fascinated me about my parents friends, not only the Oliver but they still cooked in an old wood stove. The food they cooked was always moist and delicious.

I think these auction videos are some of my favorites. Besides the chopping and haying videos.

Looks like a good buy. I was shocked at the cheap HP on the Versatile and the 2+2. I'm not criticizing you about anything, I really appreciate you showing the sale price of the auction equipment! Just surprised by the prices on those 2 units. Thanks for showing them! Enjoy your Oliver, I'm sure you will put it to good use!👍👍

Wow, there was lots of good deals at that sale! It’s probably a good thing I don’t live closer I would’ve bought a bunch 😂 the D in your 77 serial number is part of the transmission code. If you want to know if that tractor ever was a Diesel, the right side frame is thicker than the left on the diesels only. Nobody seems to know why, but that’s the way it is. Originally all of those fleetlines (66, 77, 88) had the under hood muffler, and 90% of them have been cut like yours to have a larger above the hood muffler put on. By the supers, they went ahead and did that from the factory, putting the muffler above the hood. Around here lots of dairy farms loved the 77/88/770/880 because they could unload Wagons and run the PTO from the ground.. You can get lots of the parts from Korves Oliver. If you want to put side panels back on it, you can get new ones from Lynch Farms. I think you got a great deal and it looks like a pretty solid tractor!!
