its funny how many little things you catch when you actually start to learn how to speak Japanese. The characters name is Ringo, which is a Japanese word for Apple. And her head looks like an apple. Ive come to realize that the Japenese are very symbolic when it comes to naming characters and often sneak in little jokes and references into the names of characters.

So they took one of the most commonly made fun of tropes and turned it into a word based edutainment game, I never thought of it but I’m still surprised that nobody thought of it before.

this reminds me of OG Dragon Ball. The focus on martial arts, the short protagonist who seems to know little about the outside world. a taller companion who seems to be mostly a non-combatant who starts Ringo's journey for the plot McGuffins (map pieces). semi-common animal people. I'm excited.

Neat concept of combining words to make your attacks, it takes the whole "Special attack name" trope and makes it a gameplay mechanic where the better your word combo the better the attack...I like it, I'll be keeping an eye on this especially since it's gonna hit the Switch.

Also this is so fun and the end shot with all the vhs tapes makes me super nostalgic...it makes me think of going to the library and renting all the ranma 1/2 tapes i could just bc they were there, which was amazing to 12 yo me in 2004. All different seasons, dub and sub...it was dire times.

But i mean that in the best qay possible here. This just...makes me immediately feel fond, and the gameplay itself looks really really great. People have taked for years about about a game using a mechanic like this, so its great to finally see it done!!!
