Copilot in Excel: Using Conditional Formatting

In this video, I demonstrate how to use Copilot in Microsoft Excel to seamlessly apply conditional formatting to data involving text, dates, and numbers. I first ensure the worksheet meets the prerequisites for using Copilot by saving it to OneDrive or SharePoint, enabling Autosave, and structuring the data as a table.

Through practical examples, I showcase Copilot's capability to intuitively handle requests such as highlighting certain states in a specific color, marking purchases above a threshold, and changing the font color for recent invoice dates.

Copilot is a great addition to all Microsoft 365 products, but in Excel it's amazing at understanding prompts and taking action.

Great demo. It would be a great follow up to use the same data set and show how copilot could help create pivot tables and charts. Great job !!

One may argue that this is overkill for Copilot, and that savvy excel users should know conditional formatting, but there is so much in an app like excel you might be a long term user but not know something which some consider simple as you never need to use it. I think using Copilot like this is like recording a macro for spreadsheet actions, it may show you how to use/do something you never considered for come across.
