To meet requirements to enhance workforce skills, TWI is creating distance learning and training environments that are available on demand, are accessed remotely, and connect to a wide range of robotically enabled learning scenarios. The long-term goal is to enable personnel across the world to remotely access physical facilities (comprising expensive infrastructure) using telepresence and multiple robotic manipulators to execute a wide range of learning, experimentation, and validation tasks without having to travel to these facilities. Advanced development of these telepresence tools also offers the means to perform robotic and automated inspection remotely in extreme and hazardous environments.
