Mazda CX-60 2023 uncovered early! See the new BMW X3 and Audi Q5 luxury SUV rival | Chasing Cars

The new Mazda CX-60 has been spotted on a photo shoot in Japan before its full reveal.

Locked in for Australia, the new Mazda CX-60 will be the first SUV to ride on Mazda’s new large car architecture using longitudinal six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with RWD by default and optional AWD.

Spied by source CSK Review in Japan, the upmarket CX-60 will target the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC and Land Rover Discovery Sport while the CX-5 continues to sell as Mazda’s offer in the mainstream midsize SUV segment.

Lots of Mazda news this week. Yesterday’s CX-50 isn’t coming to Australia but this CX-60 is *confirmed* for Australian release likely in late 2022.

This looks alright, but the headlights are too small and ruin the design. It’s far from ugly, but if the headlights were taken off the CX-5 it would look better. I’d rather the CX-50 over it, but hopefully the CX-70 or CX-80 will be the pick of the bunch as they have the 6 cylinder.

I guess Australia will get the CX-50 in the future, your market is the strongest place for Mazda. So if there's a big demand Mazda will bring it there no doubt. I prefer the CX-50 than this one but who knows this isn't the final exterior design yet as it looks like the CX-5 except the front facia. Maybe they're using the CX-5 body to test the new engine and to gather a feedback from the consumer.

Mazda makes good cars, no doubt about it... But all the SUVs they market are so similar in appearance...

The front looks like a rendering somebody made, and the rest of it looks exactly like the CX-5 we currently have. I think Mazda is starting to lose their touch when it comes to design.

Remember Eunos, the Mazda luxury spin off like Toyota to Lexus from 1989 to 1996? So this isn’t Mazda first attempt to take on the European luxury brands

Makes me want to vomit, no offense. I've always liked their design but the CX-60 is just egh. The headlights especially.. Everything looks so cheap compared to the other models.

I love how there is an assumption the better value car (CX5) would be phased out...be hard pressed to find these hordes of people with the moolah for 'premium Mazda'

CX-60 is not for the US. Look at it from A-pillar back: essentially a CX-5, previous generation design language (6th).

I had high hopes after seeing the more adventurous design of the CX-50... but this CX-60 just has a very unappealing design. Unbalanced, tiny headlights and a fat 'head'. Not a good look...

At least Mazda can have an “rugged” CX option. It seems all their options are road bias cars.
