Boris!! There is actually a restaurant called shashlik in Helsinki. It's not very gopnik friendly though as the shashlik dish costs almost 40€.

Visited Rovaniemi in Finland for a weekend 5 years ago, had saved ca. 10.000 NOK (1050 Euro/1290 USD/910 GBP) so i could spend some money there, when i got home, the bank account showed -7000 NOK (-730 Euro/-900 USD/-634 GBP).

Helsinki (and everything inside Kehä 3) is the most un-Finnish place here. It's like going to Berlin when you are supposed to be visiting Siberia. You should've arranged a week-long summer cottage trip to central or eastern Finland. You need some mökki and rantasauna by the lake, some makkara, beer, bask under the midsummer Sun and enjoy life in the middle of nowhere. No neighbors, no problems.

Finland has two official languages, Finnish and Swedish. People speak Swedish in coast areas. 5% of the population speak Swedish as their native language but children must learn Swedish in school. And that is why many things are also in Swedish, especially in Helsinki and coast areas.
