I've built several of these out of 5 gallon buckets, you can buy the feed port kits for around $15 dollars... definitely saves us a ton of time.

Make sure you have a couple startegies to deal with pests with the autofeeder. Found a raccoon raiding mine in the dead of night

Huge huge saver. I built my brooder. Manually took care of chicks 4 times a day two days and then started automating all of the things they needed and now I’m down to on Needing to service every 3 or 4 days but I check them daily for unexpected things and see how good they are growing or if they are eating too slow I will grow feed on the ground and they peck it up.

Won't be very useful because poultry chickens NEVER stop eating, even if it's full they will continue to wat until nothings left.
That's why you only feed them at most 2-3 times a day.

I found out I can have a few chickens where I live..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 . As a kids my chores were the chickens and eggs taste so good

You should only feed what the chickens will clean up in about 20 minutes. Do that two times a day. When you leave feed out it draws vermin. Each chicken needs a a quarter pound of feed per day. Multiply that by the number of chickens you have and divide by 2 and that will give you the weight for each meal. If they don't clean it all up within at most 30 minutes, reduce the amount of feed.

The problem with all auto feeders is that the feed inside of them gets stale relatively fast and then your chickens are eating less nutritious food and will produce much less eggs.

We did this for a while but we always had issues with the fine particles clogging it and preventing actual feed from falling down!
