Investing in mutual funds offers a structured and diversified approach to building wealth, managed by professional fund managers. While there are costs and some limitations, the benefits of diversification, professional management, and ease of access make mutual funds a popular choice for achieving a variety of financial goals.

Interesting video I'm in my 50s and I'm more interested in investments that could set me up for retirement, I mean I've heard of people that netted hundreds of thousands during these crash, I listened to someone on a podcast who earned over $650K in less than a year, what's the strategy behind such returns?

I have over $200k ready to be invested, however I am having trouble trying to find out what investments would be best during this present economy. Heard index funds and ETFs provide diversified stock market exposure while spreading risk. How true?

Low cost Index funds beat actively managed funds every time. The rest of this is just noise.

Just because there is 4% of funds that make money, doesn’t mean the percentage of finding the 4% of funds is 4%. This doesn’t make sense.

To be fair. You only have a 4% chance of finding that mutual fund... IF you pick one at random.

ETFs over mutual funds. If you were to invest in mutual funds you would be better off buying long term brands individual stocks with solid dividend growth. (At&t, ford, caterpillar, abbvie, proctor & gamble) and reinvest the dividends. Those are as safe as mutual funds. Probably more so. With consistent payouts and growth. Matching inflation. I don't understand why anyone pays to get into mutual funds

Yes, the “10 year” statement is quite accurate. That’s the most important part of what he said. But I’ve been at 20% in my funds prior to that 10 year mark and I’ve been up past the 10 year mark. Also, fees DO matter. Note as well that what he said has many reasons WHY the 10 year statement is a loaded statement. Just listening to this little clip doesn’t give you enough knowledge to understand why he says what he said. It’s important to LEARN. Otherwise, no matter what you invest in, you’ll end up making a dumb mistake. Another important term he used is fiduciary. If you don’t know what that word means, learn it. As jelly is important in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fiduciary is important to know AND understand when investing.

But what about after taxes? You don't pay taxes on a mutual fund and a lot of investments are charging close to what a job pays so you're looking at twenty to thirty percent off of whatever you made in other investments. I'd like to see someone factor that in too... 🤔

Looking at data from only a 10 year investing period paints a very narrow picture of what mutual funds can do. I wonder what that slope would look like over 20-30 years. Time is very valuable when investing over the long term. Maybe they’re not good for making money fast, but if that’s the goal…there are other instruments available.

I like dividend stocks you get paid and then can keep the cash or reanvest it

The lower return mutual funds are less risky. They go up slower, but they also go down slower.

That's only if you pick your fund randomly. If you pick based on past performance, then you'll do better.

I like single company stocks that out pace the s&p 500, and also have some index funds.

What he's saying is right, but low-cost index funds can also be mutual funds, not just ETFs. A more accurate term would be "actively-managed mutual funds."
