I agree with your assessment - those 5 really expand the game. I played a LEPacy a while back after having all the packs for years. It was a real eye-opener to which features from which packs I rely on the most. It was kind of fun trying to do without as well: having a formal wedding without Generations, building my own community lots without the cash registers from World Adventures or the professional bars from Late Night. I was surprised at how much I missed that gem cutting machine from Supernatural.

I only have 3 expansions on my Sims 3 and I think it's more than enough than a full-complete pack.
Generations : so I can basically spend more hours playing
Late Night : because I'm a man of music, and the party stuffs are just bonuses
Pets : so I can have my entire family member in the game

My top 5 are a little different:
5. Ambitions: it is no OFB, but I do like the firefighter career most, like you. Plus, the Lore and ambience of the world is intriguing.
4. Pets: although this is a must have for me, I have to use mods to limit spawning. I must admit, finding a unicorn is a magical moment❣
3. Into the Future:I am a sci-fi/fantasy buff, and it just adds so much futuristic content. Plus, this works well if you also own Lunar Lakes.
2. Seasons/Generations (both I equally must have). Weather, Holidays, Proms, Mid-life Crisis, etc., are truly needed. I just think, these aspects should have either been base game features, or patched in.
1. Supernatural: along with sci-fi and fantasy, I love horror and the occult. All the pop culture references, the Lore, the builds, the occults, just have unlimited gameplay for me❣ Plus, Moonlight Falls is my favorite EP World, and works well with my favorite Store World, Midnight Hollow❣

I've been playing this game since release and I agree with all of your choices here. Btw, if you are getting frustrated with holidays in seasons, you might want to try adjusting the season lengths in your settings. By default each season is set to 7 days, but if you offset that by even one day it will rotate the weekday of each holiday. In my games I usually play with long summers & springs (10-15 days), and short falls & winters (3-6 days). As long as the total number of days doesn't add up to a number divisible by 7, the holidays should be on different weekdays each year.

I pretty much agree with you, though my ranking would be a little different with Seasons being on top even despite those annoying holidays, but there is one exception and that is Late Night. It is good EP and what it does, it does well, but there are few problems with it that push it bellow Top 5 for me. The fame system will get really annoying quickly and thank goodness they later brought a way to turn it off. Bridgeport was also pretty buggy and also pretty small, which became problem with new EPs that added new lots, which you had nowhere to place in Bridgeport, without its total overhaul. And sadly, some features of the pack really only worked in Bridgeport. For those reasons, Late Night is not in my Top 5.
Instead, Supernatural is there for me. I understand not everyone want supernatural Sims in their game, and I was, honestly, the same before this pack (there is a reason why Makin' Magic was the only Sims 1 EP I never bought). But this pack changed that for me. All the supernaturals were well worked, while still unique and they really caught my heart. Especially fairies. Plus, Moonlight Falls is my most favourite Sims 3 town. Pretty big, pretty beautiful, great premades, just everything I wish for Sims 3 towns. I just had so much fun with it. And that's why it's in my personal Top 5.

I see that your gameplay footage is much darker: I assume, you record it with the game in full screen? Lazy Duchess has a "smooth patch" mod that also has a setting to launch the game in borderless mode (without breaking the text strings like in windowed mode) and your footage will look normal then 👍
Regarding the video: the sims 3 complete editions on steam is so cheap sometimes that it's probably gonna be cheaper to buy everything there than just 5 EPs for the full price. And Pets is one of the heaviest EPs to run because it spawns strays and adds multiple pets to existing families that can essentially clog your save file, so it's usually recommended to turn them off using mods.

I mostly agree with the 5, however:
1) Seasons
2) Pets
3) Generations
4) Ambitions
5) University Life

Late Night is good, but the above 5 will round everything up as a Life Simulator.

Ideally, get them all. 😂

It feels like some self employed jobs should have been in these expansion packs.
Ambitions- repairman/ electrician, personal assistant, pizza maker/delivery, drycleaner, gardener
Late night- personal chef, butler, paparazzi, personal trainer, bouncer, musician
Generations- tutor, elder care, entertainer

They are all must haves, the complete sims 3 experience is 10/10, the ultimate sims game. I love it. Sims 4 is HORRIBLE. A horrible change from sims 3.
