It is not a boat. It is a wind instrument. Wood, strings, wind channels, resonance chamber, not intended to float.

The second funerary boat was damaged due to a cement mixer unknowingly used directly above the stone chamber. The water leaking down warped and damaged the planks. When the original boat chamber was opened a fleeting scent of Lebanon cedar wood was noted.

the boat wasn't a prized possession because of its usefulness, it had religious significance as the 'ship of a million years' carrying the soul of the dead pharaoh across the heavens. It is doubtful if these boats were used other than in bringing the pharaoh's body to the harbour they have found below the Sphinx. They are built from cedar of Lebanon, a fabulously rare timber in Pharaonic times.

My guess is that this ordinary looking boat is equivalent to multi million yatch of today.

Nice that they're getting the second boat out of the pit. The authorities let water and insects access this pit so it's in worse condition. The first one was hermetically sealed so when it was opened they could smell the cedar wood. There are two other pits, now empty around the pyramid. Well worth a visit, I went in 2014. If you have any idea about construction and woodwork techniques then you will be stunned by the craftsmanship from the end of the Bronze Age.

Ancient Somalia had a strong diplomatic, trade and cultural ties with ancient Egypt.Wadi Al-jarf, the world's oldest harbour, connected ancient Egypt with ancient Somalia through the Red Sea.The harbour was used to launch voyages to the mysterious land of Punt (infamous gold land) and other parts of the ancient world.Somalia needs to salvage from a devastating foreign intervention that destroyed, divided and weakened the country.

I love how they always call it khufus tomb yet absolutely no remains of any mummy, funerary goods or hieroglyphics have been found, only things found a copper hook and a piece of wood. the only evidence of khufu was graffiti bearing his name in a area above the king's chamber most likely left by a builder. now most will say nothing was found because of tomb raiders yet every other tomb that has been found raided still had something left behind, unless this one was raided by maids with ocd.
