I actually really liked the darkon Saga. It's the first good one since throne of darkness. Regarding the wall of text criticism I mean, that's just what it's always been. Every storyline since I started laying back in 2009. If you take the time to read the "wall of text" you actually get involved with the story and start to understand why it is you're killing the specific enemy for that quest. I don't think aqw is dying because of it's storylines, It's dying because they abandoned it for AQ3D and are no longer promoting it so there's no new players. Back when I started playing it as advertised everywhere. Every player these days have played for like 5-10 years and is getting tired of the game. Like how often do you see a level 10 these days ? Or even a level 40 ? if you see a level 40 it's just a old player checking his account. AQW needs new players, It needs noobs.

The darkon saga is probably the only storyline that I bothered to read and watch cutscenes of. I think the argument you're making is fair for pretty much every other storyline in the game (even the 13 lords of chaos to some degree) but this saga has been pretty interesting to me just because of the unique concept art

I actually didn't care about the saga until I saw posts of potential darkon class and I had no clue as to what was happening story wise luckily I was bored enough to use my 2nd acc to start the quest from the very beginning and understand the saga and indeed it's very good however it made it fun in a way because you start from the very beginning to the last, no 1 week or so delays, so you'd actually remember what happened.

The storyline is much much more interesting than the past storylines but yeah i do agree the quest system is so outdated, they dont even bother to change anything to make it different, the stuff you could farm are honestly the only items i bothered to farm but its so tedious

Nothing can be really innovated with this style of game, I'd say the biggest problem is how the story is accessed. Unless it's the "freshest" release. many people aren't going to know where to start until getting softlocked out of content because (place NPC here) tells them/ports the player to the previous area where the npc might still say "Come back once you've done x"
Obviously we have /join whateverland once we find out what it is that we want to explore/story/shop/farm., but with the rusted system that flash is. The biggest change to how engaging AQW story telling/exploring can be, would be pumping out 2D asap.

No one wants to watch a cutscene in 4fps.
No one wants to be told "come back later" after finishing something you had no clue needed to be completed.

As far as I'm concerned the best change would be porting players(Including players that finished a certain part) to the respectable start of said stories map.
Also the voice acting(where it's present) just needs to be left out. It ranges from "Is their mic broken?" to "heh-, You made me use 10% of my cringe, kid."

Funnily enough, I got the initiative to learn english from AQW. When I came over to the UK and clicked on the ad for it, I just knew I had to learn english or I wont be able to progress in the game. I'm from Thailand, now 16yrs later and still on the game, never have I regretted to compliment about the storylines and the bunch of texts. Maybe if they can do voiceover then that'll be ideal for the majority of the fanbase.

I know it wasnt perfect english they were having on the game, but it was the basics I picked up on, and has gotten me to where I have today.

I really don't understand why is so hard to read the cutscene perfectly or read the quest box dialogue properly. It will only take a few minutes. I am sure you read dialogues from other games but AQW it is always skipped. What is the point of playing the game just to rush through the event to unlock the boss, get the loot and probably just end up banking it? Not to mention that most of the loot is always recycled. I know it is not the best story out there but at least it is decent enough to keep you interested. It just frustrates me that people skip cutscenes all the time without bothering to watch it.

I personally think them putting 10+ quests or something in a storyline is something i hated in big storylines, I rather just want some few quests and have an actual meaning to the story, instead of doing something that feels too long or boring to do and i just feel demotivated doing them cuz it's all the same thing I'm doing.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. I read the walls of text and I even read the quests and the turn in text. Story areas don't give huge rewards since the story and adventure is the reward. This has been the case for AQW since the beginning. Not gonna tell you to start reading every weekly story event but the darkon saga was really entertaining with cool characters and a good story. You aren't giving the events a chance here. Honestly if the game stops having story content then I really will just quit. I already have all the damage boost weapons and the best classes. A game with only farming would actually suck.

The darkon saga was great and other stories like seppy and throne of darkness were great and last weeks event with drakath was entertaining enough. Honestly I would say the darkon saga was better then the original chaos saga. When the game was at it's biggest back in the day stories without rewards was all you ever did. We have fewer stories then ever now so it's nice when we actually get something good. Please actually read the text. Your critique sounds like someone looking at all the pictures in a book without reading it and then telling everybody the book was boring.

I haven't played Aqw in years but I still like to check up on it once in a while and in terms of player count it goes up and down beginning of 2022 it had around 5000 or more players across the months now 3000ish don't really know when the game will fully die but seems like it's still going to be decently active for a long time it's not the best game but all the improvements they have been slowly adding like class buffs is nice to see and Im sure new/returning players will have a lot to do. Sidenote Darkon saga was actually pretty good.

You see, i always seems to read quest and watching cutscene. Perhaps i just dont have anything to do and do it to kill time or i do enjoy reading this thing and playing cuz i like to read lots of comic and i feel like im actually in the story for once cuz i am. I think it is just me to think like this

I feel like the critique on reading is more about the gameplay. I love reading the quest dialog, I hate killing 12 random enemies in between them. I more or less determine if I'll read the questline based solely on how much random bullshit I have to kill between learning things
