I had the unfortunate experience of working Christmas Eve this year, I have so much ptsd from that night that I can’t even laugh at this without crying a little inside cause it’s so true. They expect you to be fully stocked on things that literally will not sell the very next day and wouldn’t be sold again until the next year. People are so delulu

It genuinely kills you. I got off my shift not even 4 hours ago and had to get so much food + maybe a little cognac to even manage. People expect you to be overworked and keep a smile all day while people scream over you running out of gift cards or candy that everyone chose as a generic gift

I worked Christmas Eve and honestly it just felt like any other shift, felt blessed cause it looked busier from the customer's side than mine. Didnt even notice until I left how long the queues were🤣. I feel for our cashiers though..

I was a much less angsty version of that this year... spent most of the trip putting Deli and dairy stuff on night-fill trolley because they had warmed up after other people dumped them on regular shelves.

As a retail worker myself and working in the only available shop for miles. I actually don't feel as negatively as everyone else about last minute christmas shopping.

Growing up, money was a luxury in my home so sometimes my family would have to buy things last minute after getting all other bills, weekly shops, etc out of the way. Not everyone has the luxury of buying things in advance.

I try my best to be understanding.
Its a hard shift working xmas eve but at the same time its the shift that passes fastest in the year because of how busy it gets. So judging customers or being mad about it feels pointless to me.

I think it would be busy because the shops are usually closed on Christmas day so Christmas eve is the only time you can do your food shopping (normal food shopping not specifically Christmas food)
