2 years ago, I moved back to Maine (where I lived until I was 13). I had been living in Pennsylvania and was in a relationship with a girl for 3 years. I moved back to Portland Maine for my career and family, and she promised me she would move too, but her parents were against it and fought hard to keep her in PA. I bought a house and an engagement ring and waited 2 more years, frequently driving back to PA. Finally, she decided she didn't want to move anymore. I picked my life in Maine over going back to chase someone who broke her promises. Hardest decision of my life, but I feel I made the right one. So this song hits home for me.

As a Mainer born and bred, this song makes me sob uncontrollably. I know what Noah means when he says these ocean towns are just oceans themselves, and that the only things that matter are the water and the sunrise. I love this state and I always will - I'll always want to go to Maine. This song is now one of my all-time favorites, thank you Noah ❤️

I ended up losing my great love, my first girlfriend. It hurts a lot, a pain that medicine doesn't ease, sleep doesn't go away and I don't know what to do, I had never felt love for anyone and I loved her with all my strength and now this is destroying me. But, when I come to listen to this song and I feel peace, Noah's voice calms me and I know that one day everything will calm down.
