Here are the normative values for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis:

Pressure: 70-180 mm H2O.
Appearance: Clear and colorless.
Cell count: WBCs 5/µL, RBCs 500/µL.
Glucose: 50-80 mg/dL (60-70% of blood glucose).
Protein: 45 mg/dL.

A CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) test involves examining the clear fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. This fluid serves several purposes, including cushioning the brain, removing waste products, and providing nutrients to the brain and spinal cord. A lumbar puncture, also known as a spinal tap, is a procedure used to collect a sample of CSF for testing. The interpretation is made based on the variations observed in cerebrospinal fluid parameters, such as cell counts, glucose levels, protein levels, and pressure, which provide valuable insights into underlying neurological conditions and guide appropriate treatment strategies.
