Very sad news. I'm very disappointed, but not surprised.

For now, it seems that our alternative is gravon:

They should have made this a pay-to-play site from the very beginning. From what it sounds like, there wouldn't be any shortage of players who would've paid $80-100/year to play on this site as long as they kept it up. It costs more than $100 to take your partner to a decent restaurant for one dinner.

Regarding Flash, Jumbo games had plenty of time and access to programming expertise to implement the necessary changes if they wanted to. It seemed they felt that financially it wasn't worth it, and focused their profitability share on single-player games with AI that an average 8-year-old could beat. That's probably why they are not willing to sell the rights to the game or offer a licensing fee for someone else to create a multigame platform.

Yes, to Gravon videos. Although this would be a big loss with the graphics not being as nice, it's your great commentating that makes the videos so entertaining and educational. Thanks Fairway.

This is such a shame....I literally just started playing about 1-2 months ago. And as soon as it starts getting good, the rug is pulled out from beneath me.

I'm absolutely floored that there aren't more stratego options out there. I mean, how many chess apps and websites are there? How many for Go? Stratego is (in my opinion) superior to chess due to the bluffing/initial set ups/ memory aspects. With chess, everything is just out there, in the open, for everyone to see and react to. No bluff, no memory required. Everyone is set up the same way. Boring. I'm amazed I just found out about stratego and that it isn't even close to as popular as chess.

From what I understand, if we do not upload updates to your browser, you should be able to play stratego. You may have to change your settings so that your browser doesn’t upload new updates that do not support flash.

Some viewers who are new to Gravon might appreciate a video that shows them how to navigate that site, since it takes a bit of time to figure out its idiosyncrasies if you're not used to them. I'm sure I'll be playing there too, since it's better than nothing.

Why they stopped the frame? It was the best with no bugs! It was amazingly done.. the new stratego online is so bad!

This is very unfortunate. I reckon Stratego isn't as popular because it's a much younger game than checkers and chess allbeit it is similar in construct.
We must figure out a way to make it more fast!
