Before this season, I wanted to see tangible progress in terms of how we set up and how we are on the ball. And I do think there's some positive stuff in the games so far. Our pressing has improved a lot, our shape out of possession is good, and the players look really comfortable trying to play out from the back. What has remained the same however is our poor finishing and the sudden lack of focus which results in chances conceded. These are the two areas we must improve ASAP if we are to stay comfortably within the top 4

Such a disappointing result at this point of the season. A second win would have done massive things for confidence and momentum, but here we are - an early setback.

That being said, I think luck has played a massive part here. I don’t share people’s hysteria around the substitutions et al. I think the coaching staff have to be cute with minutes right now for match fitness & to avoid injuries.

As the season progresses I think we’ll tighten up, the fitness levels will improve & we’ll be able to put a good run together. Especially with options up front.

Ridiculously unlucky that goal didn’t stand. Would have taken the draw to underline the progress year over year, but wasn’t to be.

Anyone losing their heads at this stage can’t be taken seriously.

"Rashford never stopped running" is the biggest nonsense I have heard in a while. Casually jogging and walking around is not running. That boy has not run for a whole game in years. Absolutely stealing a living.

Can’t believe people criticising INEOS for Rashford still being here. They didn’t give him a five year contract on £350k a week. We are stuck with him for the duration of his contract. That is down to Glazer management not INEOS.
This mess will take at least three years to sort out.

Guys, pls calm down. ETH must be given time to tweak things and INEOS has already said that they cant fix the squad balance by this window. At least 2 more windows. Change takes time, and new players need time to assimilate. We are playing much better, but defensive focus and being clinical in front of goal is what the team has to figure out how to address them. It's just the 2nd game and it will be a rocky rock. Manage your expectations

I gave Amad a 7 - scored and played through tragedy. Mount did well and we shipped less shots until he went off. Mcguire was very poor. Rashford needs refresher training on the offside rule. Garnacho and De ligt should've started. Brighton has a decent side, so hoping we kick on from here.

Great insight as usual Andy 👏. However think you’ve been generous with Maguire. Not just the mistake for the goal but you can tell that Onana and the other defenders don’t trust him with a pass, therefore the t forces all passes through Martinez and meant all we could do was drive down the left leaving amad pretty isolate most of first half. Fine as a

At least the performance wasn't completely abject, like we saw so many times last season. I thought the manager could have done better with team selection and subs today.

I shouted at my fiance from the office asking her what she's doing because I kept hearing someone moving about and moving stuff around. Took me about 8 minutes to understand this was coming from Andys house, not mine.

Anyway, think this season is about nailing down a style of play and making good cup runs. We cant expect an easy top 4 here, and neither does the INEOS brass. They chose Erik to start their rebuild so I see this as his first season almost. The project is just starting and we have a good sporting director finally.

Why did we not just settle for a draw at that late stage? Shocking defending to leave all those players free. Were they rushing out for a counterattack? Also, too many good attacks which ended with poor passes. 😢
