When we saw his vacation film, we laughed till our cheeks hurt. That scene with the folding boat is comedy gold.

“My Uncle” was one of the first movies I saw as a child, thanks to the International Cinema in Toronto. The wonderful ultra modern garden at his sister’s, with the fish sculpture fountain, (only turned on for important guests). A garden M. Hulot wrecked in the most innocent way.
Always remembered the automatic garage door and the problem with the dog with its tail down.

I saw Mr Hulot’s Vacation, my first introduction to Andre Tati’s work. What a delight! I was so relaxed after viewing it. The slow sweetly funny film had me smiling and chuckling the entire time.

I recogniized both Peter Sellers (BEING THERE) and Rowen Atkinson (MR BEAN) characters as being inspired from Tati’s creation of Mr Hulot!

I remember seeing M Hulot's Holiday shortly after it came out. I must have been 6 or 7, perhaps the best age to enjoy all the gags.

A wonderful compilation of TATI gems! Personally I think you could’ve used the original music from his films, it is already so witty and charming!

I once saw a clip from a theatre performance of Jacques Tati, where he was miming a person in a small circus ring, training a horse to do tricks .
There was no horse or trainer, only him and sometimes he was the trainer and sometimes the horse, cantering round the ring .
Fascinating!

Loved “Trafic” when it came out, so many micro-scenes of visual jokes piled up on one another. Your clip of the exhibitors at the motor show, stepping over the boundaries of the as-yet-unused exhibition stands, marked out by wires (which we cannot see at distance) is a classic piece of Tati

The first Tati film I saw, around 1960, was My Uncle. Later I saw all of his films, some two or three times. For me, he is one of the greatest geniuses in cinema. I think he continued to some extent in the line of silent films, because dialogues are not important in his films. However, he modernized cinema in multiple aspects. Tati is truly unique.

About 55 years ago Belgian TV (BRT) ran several movies of Tati on friday-night. My parents had a shop that was open at that time and I (about 8 or 9 years old) watched all this movies by myself. I never had seen this films until the mid nineties when thew were released on DVD. but remembered the fabulous shots. These compilation isn't even the most beautiful: The flat tire at the funeral / cemetery, Hulot's Sister and her husband behind the round windows, as eyes, The footprint ont the secretary's desk when she had to change, the street-sweeper who never ever removed any garbage, The dog in the street that doesn't move... So much more. I never forgot the impact of this cinema and am grateful to watch it over and over again. As an modern architect a especially like Mon Oncle and Playtime it helps me to relativize the importance of my work.
