This is probably my first and LAST time I'm going to be uploaded anything that's Steven Universe related, just to let the community know something specific about the Diamonds and their themes, each has a specific tone.

I love the emotional rollercoaster from the diamond themes.

White Diamond Theme=Power incarnate. Ominous. Dangerous. Destroyer of star systems.
Shaped the image of her empire and everything in it.

Yellow Diamond Theme= Authority. Militant. Dictator. Conqueror of worlds.

Blue Diamond Theme= Sorrow. Regret. Wisdom. Aristocrat. Intelligence Gatherer.
Terraforms barren planets to begin gem development and harvesting.

Pink Diamond Theme= Youthful. Naïve. Amateur in authority. Innocent, but necessary casualty of war. Unaware that her death would bring liberation, and ruin.

Out of all soundtracks from SU, the Diamonds' chords/chimes/themes always stood out to me. They felt off but not in a way that they didn't fit in, but off in a way that they were just so mysterious, like a looming, beautiful, elegant and threatening presence that overshadowed everything around them, very fitting for the Diamonds before their "redemption". It's so curious how such "simple" sounds tell us a lot about what they represent, this sound gave me chills, it made me understand the fear, the dread the Crystal Gems felt from the Diamonds. This sound alone feels like a voice saying "Bow down before us, for we are a being beyond your capabilities, and we are here to eliminate you from the cosmos." Rebecca Sugar might not be the best writer, but I'll throw hands with anyone who dares to deny her brilliance as a musician.

I love how their themes represent them.
White's theme is bright, and omnipotent.
Yellow's is commanding, and seemingly ceaseless.
Blue's is melancholy, and foreboding.
And lastly, Pink's is understanding, and sympathetic.
Simply beautiful.

I feel such a strange combination of unease and contentment when this theme plays. The Steven Universe soundtrack is simply genius. How it can be both emotionally subtle and raw simultaneously is incredible.

I love how the pink diamond's note at one point changes to a violin -rose's theme instrument- showing that they were the same person

Thank you for pointing these out because so many fans say the themes sound the same but you definitely hear a difference in *"That Will Be All"* when Blue walks into Pink's room and Yellow comes in later.

In case you were wondering

White : F#maj7
Yellow : Bmaj7
Blue : Emaj7
Pink : Amaj7

Each chord is a perfect fourth away from the previous one.
we're going through the flat side of the circle of fifths, which is often described by musicians as "dark", each chord darkening the progression, compared to the sharp side which is "bright".

So idk maybe you can find some shitty interpretation to this.

Peace.

When you take into account the abuse that Pink Diamond faced, I feel like that could be part of the reason why hers is the lowest, saddest note but then becomes brighter after Pink Diamond is "shattered" and she gets to live her life her way and with people who love her instead of abuse her. Of course there are other aspects too, like her seeming to have the lowest amount of authority and power, her being essentially a child with the other diamonds being her parents, her being gone is technically victory for the Crystal Gems which is something to be happy about, etc.

there's something so holy and otherworldly about this instrument...

I just realized that it sounds like this because the Diamonds are from space. In space, contrary to popular belief, there IS sound— there's vibrations that can be captured. And they DO sound like this, except a bit less pretty.

I like to imagine the cord they’re in is based on their power and important. With whites sounding higher, yellow sounding lower, blue sounding like a more calm version of yellow, and pink being the lowest.

I absolutely love how each Diamond has their own chord. I first noticed this in "That Will Be All" and "Can't Go Back"

I thought Blue Diamond's sounded sad but Pink's sounds mournful especially at 0:22.

Yes I know that this characters are fictional but damn, I literally cried on pink's theme.. Its depressing notes became more depressing on her shattering theme

I like how yellow is so similar to white in many ways just with the ability to be insulted and hurt where as white just ignores it. You can really tell yellow is trying her best to be like white.
