Joel there's a fix for the glow ink farm that will stop the Axolotls being killed.

To fix the farm you want to make another 2 deep pool of water with an air gap above it, light level 0, and the same footprint as your spawning chamber directly above the spawning chamber at Y=31 or higher. This will cause the drowned to spawn there and not in the glow squid chamber as drowned always spawn on the highest possible block, forcing the drowned to spawn in the higher pool and not with the axolotls.
