you’ll probably have to trigger a seam fight i think because in undertale if a shopkeeper didn’t want to run away during geno they’d just be in the menu and all you could do is insult them

My personal theory is that as Seam and Jevil played games together, they became really good friends.
When Jevil discovered the truth about their world and started to tell everyone, I suspect Seam actually believed him to some extent. But as the other Darkners began to panic over Jevil’s words, the kings frantically tried to put a stop to this and created a dungeon to lock him away. But they knew he was too strong for them to capture, so they ordered Seam to because of their strength and the fact that they had already been around him often.

The actual locking up of Jevil was less of a fight and more an argument/sad goodbye between the two. Seam probably tried one last time to change Jevil’s view of the world while he likely did the same. In the end, Jevil willingly let himself get locked up, thinking that he was the true free one.

Later Seam acts like they were just acquaintances in the shop because thinking about how they were once close is painful for them now. And perhaps they give the group the key cause deep down, they don't want Jevil to stay imprisoned

Well no, Jevil said that he was able to avoid being captured by locking the entire dark world behind bars. What that really meant was that he willingly imprisonsed himself, believing that his prison cell was the outside world, and everyone else was trapped, or in other words, he not only didn't try to resist imprisonment, but he willingly locked himself up

Something about Seam a lot of people don't notice is that he knows he's in a video game. He goes out of his way to specify how to pronounce his name after having already said it, which you wouldn't do if you were simply speaking out loud. This means he knows that someone is seeing his words as text.

This along with the fact that Seam's shop is literally sewn into the dark world definitely suggests that they have more power/abilities than what we've seen.

Also, Flowey seems to have some awareness of Seam, in the part before the Photoshop Flowey fight, when Flowey says 'Everyone' he makes a face extremely similar to Seam, so if Flowey, who once possessed the power of save, took note of a random shopkeeper from another reality, he'd have to be pretty important

Seam put Jevil behind bars after the three Kings defeated him

It doesn't really matter if Jevil resisted or not in this context. We know that they played games together and got along in this past. We know that Jevil considers the fight with him to be a game.

So even though he changed, the games they played may have been sparring matches. People typically don't play games where they have no chance of winning so if that's the case, Seam must've at least been on par with Jevil.

Judging by the shape of a seam ripper, it appears as though the ball can be treated like a wizard’s staff gem, while the bladed part gives it the same vibes as a spear of sorts
