Founded in 1989 as the first American Chamber of Commerce in Eastern Europe, AmCham Hungary has been a trailblazer in building a strong transatlantic business community: supporting Hungary’s market transformation, advocating for U.S.- Hungary economic ties, and helping shape the nation’s modern business environment.
From its 32 founding companies to its current role as a cornerstone of business advocacy and policy dialogue, AmCham Hungary continues to lead with vision and purpose, representing over 300 members today.

🔎 Meet the Leaders
Ákos Janza, President. A seasoned executive with over a decade of leadership experience in technology, finance, and policy advocacy. Prior to becoming President in January 2025, he served as First Vice President of AmCham Hungary, driving significant business and policy initiatives. He holds an MBA from Purdue University and Central European University, with expertise in corporate transformation and international business strategy.
Írisz Lippai-Nagy, CEO of AmCham Hungary since 2014, bringing extensive experience in multinational marketing and commerce. Previously she worked in senior roles at British-American Tobacco, with international assignments in Australia, Spain, and Mexico. A graduate of the Faculty of International Relations at the Hungarian University of Economics, she has played a key role in strengthening AmCham Hungary’s advocacy, partnerships, and international influence.
From welcoming global icons like Bill Gates, Jimmy Carter, and President George W. Bush to launching Hungary’s first Political Vision Conference and pioneering regional energy and sustainability forums, AmCham Hungary’s story is one of transformation, collaboration, and lasting impact.
