Very helpful. I was connecting my device to the sink in the kitchen with a rebar but will not power up so I connected the device to a 220 v but after watching this I knew I was doing something wrong. Man oh man oh man I tell you.

Hey everybody, I can explain how you can connect your device since Tom Tom doesn't want to. I ran into the same issue. It's not recognizing the drivers for the TomTom device.

Step 1) Make sure you've downloaded Mydrive Connect.

Step 2) In the Mydrive Connect folder that you extracted the software, click the "Driver" folder.

Step 3) Now select either 32-bit operating system or 64-bit operating system.

Step 4) *Right Click "DriverPreInstall" and select Run As Administrator. Let it do it's thing and then reconnect your device.

I don't know how as a company you're not embarrassed that your own software will not recognise your OWN devise. I never once got it to rcognise with the USB cable that you provided with the TomTom I bought on either my Mac or PC, even though the Mac and PC recognise it's connected. Had to go through a big palaver to get it to work on my Macbook using another cabel.

Absolute rubbish. I have been trying to update my device for days - I am a savvy PC user, computer literate but cannot find a way to work this update software, In the meantime I have gone back to a paper Very disappointed in Tomtom suppport (non existant it seems)

Just so everyone knows when you have a problem or a question Tomtom don’t reply to your emails so problems don’t get solved. My new tomtom 550 has bad connection problems so I’ve sent it back 🤷‍♂️

For me it worked to place the USB cable straight into the device (instead of the window holder). Thanks!

Tom Tom updates just getting worse, Spent hour and half trying to update maps and speed cameras on Via 550. Paying each month for this service and totally useless. Plug usb cable to computer and is recognised, just keeps on "Getting ready" screen till I give it up as another bad update.
Customer service non-existent.

I cannot find any USB socket in the TomTom Rider 550. Where is it!? I need to use the mount and it doens't work either. Pse help

Ik blijf een rood kruis krijgen met het originele snoertje : zowel via mijn laptop als via mijn computer. Moet ik soms een nieuw snoertje hebben of zou het in het contact van de tomtom zitten. Zo ja ; waar kan ik deze dan voor evt. reparatie brengen of naar toe sturen.

Still doesn't work for me. Not sure what happened, but everything worked fine (traffic, updates, etc.) Now, I can't sign in to account and no updates - going back to using Google Maps on phone.

I've tried to update the last map in my gps, and after a forced update to MyDrive, the updates are downloaded but never install. I've tried in diferent pc's with diferent OS, and nothing works. I've passed by this sort of problems to much times, with this piece of crap.


After many failed tries to update my tomtom, and after one billion problems before this one with this equipement, without any help from Tomtom to fix them, I've learned one very important thing: Never buy any Tomtom item, again!

My chords many don't fit my Dell. Many tries. Do I need to go back to Target after not finding the answer to my question on Tom Tom Support Videos? I bought my Tom Tom in 2010. Let's stop the criticism pls. and give this support team what they need to do to solve these

I’m not dumb. I know how to connect the USB. Stop shifting the blame and fix that buggy software. You’ve just bricked a device that I bought yesterday and decided to update. Lost all the maps too. On a Windows laptop, the update fails each time at 1% or the connection’s lost. MacBook Pro doesn’t even see that piece of shit TT Rider 400. And it constantly keeps connecting and disconnecting via BT to my iPhone which after that looses wi-fi network (WTF?!).
