Rescued Sea Otter Pup Gets Bottle

About this video: Otter 501 lost her mother was found stranded and alone on a beach in central California when she was only a few days old. Unable to care for herself, she was bottle-fed a special formula to replace her mother's milk for many weeks. She eventually started holding the bottle herself!

Film Description: A storm grows, a sea otter pup is separated from her mother, and a young woman bound for adventure blows in to town. On a windswept beach these lives collide and an entire species' survival gets personal. Katie and our playful pup, otter number 501, learn to navigate the opportunities and risks of life without anchor while we see the incredible efforts people have undertaken to return sea otters from the brink of extinction. Framed against the strikingly beautiful Monterey Bay coastline we discover just how serious this threat remains. Their adventure, unexpected as it was, illustrates what we can do to protect the southern sea otter...and ourselves.

Sea otters have got to be one of the cutest animals in existence. Red Pandas are the only fluff balls preventing me from saying THE outright cutest.

every mammal has it hardwired into genetics to recognize and feel compassion for most any and all other baby mammals of any kind. tis why, for example, you find cases of one species being raised by another; even people in rare cases have been raised by wild animals. im not saying this isnt the cutest thing in the world but if you think about the fact that something is both massively and automatically swaying your decision then, as much as i hate to say it, is it REALLY cute or just something we can't un-see. this seriously is the cutest video ever though.... damn.
