The reason why there is a restriction for the range of k is that the integration must exist as a finite number, right?

That integral is zero for all k greater than or equal to - 2, including its principal value in k=-2.

Wolfram never fails, because Wolfram does not solve integrals with parameters most of the time, must give values to k
