I think the game would be better if you got the magnets when your opponent linked them. Currently it appears like you want to set up "chains" of magnets, but there doesnt appear to be any reason to not just take two every play and win that way. If you swapped it around it becomes a control game where you try to set up as few places to go as possible. It also would end up with larger satisfying chains as the magnets would have surrounding ones pulled in.
