Problem is it cost us a lot of time and money to prove our innocence

Having to spend $10, 000 to $50, 000 defending yourself from frivolous accusations in court is not a fair and just system of law.

I recommend fighting in court. Not the street. That way if you lose, you aren't dead.

I was unlawfully arrested about a year and a half ago now took 4 months, couldn't afford a lawyer, had to do the P.D.s job for him, got off on it, still cost me my job and my savings. Basically ruined my life and I was innocent.
I tried to get a lawyer to sue that police department. None would touch the case.

If he's comfortable with the vest, I say let him wear the vest.

Wasn’t the second amendment created with a clause that says “shall not be infringed” specifically with the intent of preventing a tyrannical government from committing treasonous actions? Isn’t a police officer a government official? If the officers actions are unlawful, isn’t that tyrannical behavior?

Love videos like this, John. Legal discussions about specific topics like this that people wonder a ton about. Not over saturated at all, perfect.

The old saying still stands: better judged by twelve than carried by six. If you've made it to trial you're at least alive.
But i agree, the laws and justice system are stacked against legal self defense, especially if firearms or bad police officers are involved. Immunity laws are a problem, just like laws that clearly violate the 2nd amendment or due process, e.g. red flag laws.

I disagree with you John when you reference the rookie cop's inaction and say "that's expecting a lot from a human being".
It isn't. Every citizen (human being) has a moral duty to try to prevent a murder they are witnessing.
If you are a police officer that duty is immeasurably more paramount.
Those rookie cops don't get a pass...they are equally culpable.

Legal and lawful aren't the same things. I don't care what their arbitrary laws are. As long as it's lawful you should have every right to resist whether their god damn "LAWS" say it's alright or not. End of conversation.

How many LEOs watch this episode? What are their thoughts? How has the Floyd death affected them on duty? Above all, most of us are on the same side.

This was one hell of a great video, very informative. That lawyer is definitely on to something, getting rid of qualified and absolute immunity, forcing cops, judges and etc to obtain malpractice insurance...I believe that will help weed out the bad apples in the bunch. 👍👍👍

Malpractice insurance is probably the best way to fix or balance this problem.

I loved the mention of a police officer arresting another officer for going to far, I beg to see this one day

Given opportunity Insurance companies will jump on that deal, great idea

Say in retrospect you pull a gun on that officer to prevent the immediate killing of someone but, then he starts to draw his weapon. Authorized deadly force?

The law literally wants you to stand by and watch an officer kill someone.

It is your duty as a citizen to comply with the law.
An arrest is not a guilty verdict.
The problem with policing is not a problem of the cops, it’s a problem of the legislature and the constitutional coherence of the law.

I thought the Supreme Court has ruled multiple times that you can resist unlawful arrest. So I’m not sure why he is saying the states have a say when it’s multiple scotus rulings
