The Pixel 5 is already a midranger. And the 4a 5G - a toned down and already cheaper version of the Pixel 5 also exists. I don't see the purpose of the 5a.

What else were they planning to cut from the Pixel 5? Make it a 4G only version? Downgrade 1080p to 720p? Downgrade the ultrawide back to a 2x telephoto? Single camera?

For now, a 5a delay is fine. Pixel 4a, 4a with 5G and 5 will still get software updates for the next couple of years. Since the leaks/rumors of the 5a apparently will seem to have the same design as the 4a 5G with little upgrades to the hardware, there's no point to be sad about the delay/cancellation. I say save your money for now, or if you're in the need of a new phone without splurging, especially with the pandemic still going on, get the Pixel 4a or 4a with 5G.

Hey Jaime, you should talk also about refurbished product as well in the deal rubric. Cause, I recently got a M1 Macbook air at $877 and it did not look so bad compared to a brand new

Now, why would they do that after such success in sales with the 4a? Many liked the slightly lower cost approach to a pure Android OS environment! Google often does strange (and stupid) things!

Jaime, you know how Ubisoft took 2 years off from spitting out mundane games and then made AC Origins, the best game in over a decade? Well, Google needs to let their ideas stew another year then drop the 6. Everyone has to refocus at different times!

Okay Google so you expect people to like pixel devices by what US & Japan owners think of it ! No Pixel 5 or 4a 5G till now in India, bummer 👎🏼 Buying them after an year makes no sense in 2021 when we have fairly better choices. Just saying 🤷🏻‍♂️
